What Bacanora means
Bacanora is a Mexican drink name of Ópata origin meaning "reed-covered slope". It is built from baca (reed) and noraco (hillside). It is pronounced bah-kah-NOH-rah, and it is most associated with Sonora.
Named for the Sonoran town of Bacanora, in the way tequila is named for its town. Ópata is no longer spoken, so the gloss is a reconstruction from old wordlists rather than something a living speaker can confirm.
